How to get a gorilla permit?




Gorilla tracking permit is one of the essentials for one to be allowed to meet the gorillas in their natural habitat deep into the forest, and no one is allowed to track the gorillas with-out a gorilla permit. For any traveler interested in gorilla tracking should pay the money for gorilla permit in time before his/her arrival dates at least 2-5 months.  Gorilla tracking activity is the most done safari activities in countries where these apes reside, in Uganda, Rwanda and the Democratic republic of Congo. Gorilla permits are sold on first come first served basis, so the earlier you book your gorilla tracking permit the better to avoid last minutes booking which is very disappointment. 

It’s better to book your gorilla permit with the tour agent or a tour and travel company organizing the all safari for you as they have easy access to these permits than individuals. After paying the money and that the gorilla permits are available on the stated dates you want to track them, you will be asked to send your passport details in order to book the gorilla permit for you. 

In Uganda gorilla permits costs usd600 in the peak season and in the low season these permits are sold on a discounted rate at usd450 during the months of March April, May and November. In Rwanda gorilla permits are sold at a fee of usd750 and in the DRC they are sold at usd450 the fee is per person per tracking and it includes park entrance fee and ranger guide fees. In Uganda gorilla permits are sold at the Uganda world life Authority in Kampala and in Rwanda they are sold at Rwanda Development Board in Kigali or at Kinigi park headquarters. It depends on which country you chose for gorilla tracking, if you choose tracking with Uganda; you can even spend a couple of weeks in Uganda. Uganda has a variety of incredible tourist attractions inhabited in Uganda’s top national parks. Uganda is  home to over 10 national parks and game reserves all these protected areas inhabit incredible features which attract a big  number of travelers to have a glance at them. So once in Uganda, you can combine your gorilla tracking safari with a number of very many interesting activities including primate watch, birding, game viewing, white water rafting at the source of the Nile, enjoy the amazing cultural experience which is incomparable in the sub-Saharan region, mountaineering among many others .

Although you can still combine gorilla tracking with primate tricking in Nyungge forest national park in the south of Rwanda,  or wildlife viewing in Akagera national park in east of Rwanda. There is no way you can leave Rwanda without taking a city tour and have a glance on many interesting places like the Kigali genocide memorial site, national museum, marketing places, handicraft shops among many more. If you still have more days in Rwanda, you can still take a few days of relaxation on Lake Kivu Rwanda’s freshest water body with very many interesting activities like swimming, beach volley ball, boat ride.

Safaris in the Democratic republic of Congo are very minimal, the country has few interesting attractions but you can combine gorilla tracking with Niyaragongo Volcano Climb which is an incredible activity.
